  • Beskrivelse: This film presents the life of Marika (Sotiria Leonardou), a singer of rebetika songs, from the day of her birth in Smyrna in 1917 up to the day of her death in Athens in 1955. She is raised by a juggler (Konstantinos Tzoumas), and after her mother (Themis Bazaka) was accidentally killed by her father (Nikos Dimitratos), Marika goes to Athens with a violinist friend of hers (Michalis Maniatis), with whom she works in Bampis’ troupe (Nikos Kalogeropoulos). In narrating Marika’s story, the film presents Greece’s history from the Asia Minor Disaster up to Papagou’s government and the dominance of the Right.
