On 20-22 April 2022, the final conference of the international research project "ViCTOR-E - Visual Culture of Trauma, Obliteration and Reconstruction in Post-WW II Europe" will take place at the Institut national d'histoire de l'art. Organized by the Université Paris 1 – Sorbonne Panthéon in collaboration with the ViCTOR-E project consortium, the final conference brings together historians, art historians, film historians, architectural historians, historians of photography, painting, and other visual arts whose research takes place during the post-World War II Reconstruction period in Europe. The event concludes the work conducted within the framework of the HERA-funded project by partner Universities in the Czech Republic, France, Germany, and Italy focused on non-fiction cinema (documentaries, newsreels, and amateur films) produced between 1945 and 1956. The conference will also see the launch of an online exhibition that was created in partnership with the European Film Gateway portal, and which explores how cinema represented and shaped post-war Europe.
In collaboration with ViCTOR-E, The European Film Gateway also made available a thematic collection with films focusing on the post-WWII era.
