The international research project "VICTOR-E - Visual Culture of Trauma, Obliteration and Reconstruction in Post-WW II Europe" that explores how audiovisual representations of public spaces – and particularly the documentation of war damage and of reconstruction efforts –, shaped the politics, policies and polities of post-WW II Europe, will hold its final conference "The Reconstruction of Post-World-War II Europe through the Visual Arts" from 20 - 22 April 2022 in Paris. The Call for papers is out now. The deadline for abstracts is November 15, 2021. The conference is organized by Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne in cooperation with Goethe University Frankfurt am Main, the Institute for Contemporary History, Czech Academy of Sciences, the Università degli Studi di Udine and the European Film Gateway.
As a partner in the VICTOR-E project, the European Film Gateway will launch a thematic collection with films documenting reconstruction efforts in France, Germany, Italy and the Czech Republic in early October 2021.
