>> View collection Since its foundation in 1999, the Arxiu del So i de la Imatge de Mallorca has tried to gather all kinds of audiovisual materials related to the island of Mallorca: photographs, films, sound recordings, which illustrate the history and intrahistory, heritage and ethnography of the island. They present a fairly extensive sample of the materials that they have been collecting throughout the years in their various fields of interest. The amateur films of Bartomeu Morlà, Josep Cabrinetti and Nicolau Tous perfectly illustrate the Mallorca of the 1930s. The films of the Foment del Turisme de Mallorca show the development of tourism in the island from the 1960s to the 1970s. On the other hand, the extensive documentary work of Gabriel Mayans gives viewers an account of rural Mallorca that maintains its customs, but sees its environment threatened by the development of the new times.
