Fons “Joan Capdevila Nogués”

>> View FJCN collection on EFG Joan Capdevila Nogués (1921-2012) can be considered one of the most emblematic representatives of Catalan independent cinema. Self-taught and independent; his concerns led him to capture during the Franco regime - through his Bolex Paillard (8mm and 16mm) cameras - much of the geographical, social and cultural reality that surrounded him.

Member of the Center Excursionista de Catalunya, the Orfeó Català, and the Agrupació Fotogràfica de Catalunya, he was a significant chronicler of Montserrat's activity (especially in the time of the abbot Aureli M. Escarré), of Pau Casals' relationship with Catalonia, the world of choirs and literary awards, among others.

The Filmoteca de Catalunya preserves a large part of its production: 141 titles. To which must be added all the cinematographic works he filmed in operating rooms and medical consultations during the 50s / 60s (a valuable testimony of the history of medicine in Catalonia) and a good number of reels dedicated to travel and family activities.
