  • Aprašymas: The fourteenth century in the Byzantine Empire. Young Stratis Karlas returns with his mother to the “lowlands” determined to take revenge for his father’s death and regain the family estate, which lord Mavrolykos had grabbed. But lord Mavrolykos’ men drive him out of the “lowlands”, and Stratis finds refuge in the “highlands” and seeks the help of lord Kallergis. Kalergis’ daughter, Iliogenniti, raised in a monastery and promised to marry Mavrolykos’ son, Markos, falls in love with Stratis. Soon Mavrolykos dies, and an eyewitness of the killing of Stratis’ father is called to testify. Stratis turns against Markos, but Iliogenniti intervenes. Kalergis, at the same time, helps bring peace between the two families, divides his land fairly among his people and helps Iliogenniti and Stratis get married.
