  • Popis: In a village located on the slopes of Mt. Parnassos, Dimitros, the son of a wealthy shepherd, is in love with Marina, a young lady of noble rank, whose father does not give them his consent because many years before one of the young man’s relatives had killed his brother. Dimitris decides to go through with an arranged marriage to Maro, the daughter of a poor peasant woman, without, however, knowing that she is the beloved of the shepherd Giorgis. Not only does Giorgis work for Dimitros’ s father, but he is Dimitros’s half-brother as well. Maro’s mother accepts the matchmaking, and Giorgis steps back, but Maro does not love Dimitris, and so the two men are at loggerheads. Finally, thanks to the intervention of Marina (whose father tried to kill Dimitris but has since regretted it) the two half-brothers are reconciled, and each marries the woman he loves.
