As an aggregator of Europeana, the European Film Gateway will be represented at the Europeana Aggregators’ Fair that takes place on 16 and 17 June 2021 online. On 17th of June from 13:00–13:30 EFG staff invite interested colleagues to join the “EFG for beginners” session during which you can learn about EFG and discuss the easiest ways to get connected and present your collections on our portal and Europeana.
"Migrating Archives of Reality. Programming, Curating, and Appropriation of Non-fiction Film" is an online conference organised by the EU-funded international research project Victor-E - "Visual Culture of Trauma, Obliteration, and Reconstruction in Post WWII Europe" that will take place on 6/7 May 2021. Among other things, the conference will look at how non-fiction films as they increasingly appear in (but also often disappear again from) online archives, virtual exhibitions, social media, YouTube etc.
On 25-26 February and 1-2 March, the 6th FIAF Winter School is held as an online training course aimed at professionals in FIAF archives and beyond. This year's edition is organised in collaboration with the Cinémathèque française and the Fondation Jérôme Seydoux-Pathé. The theme of the course is “Programming Film Heritage“ and the programme is available in English and in French.

On December 18th, 2020, 18:30 CET / 12:30PM EST, researchers of the VICTOR-E project contribute to this year's online edition of the Visible Evidence conference (16-18 Dec) with the presentation "Accessing the Visual Archives of Post War Europe: Trauma, Obliteration and Reconstruction".
The 'Europeana XX - Century of Change' project has launched the 'Family Matters' virtual exhibition that explores family as a concept that profoundly changed throughout the 20th century.
On the occasion of the World Day of Audiovisual Heritage which is celebrated every year on 27 October, EFG welcomes the Bulgarian National Film Archive as a new partner. Through EFG, the BNFA will provide access to a collection of early Bulgarian narrative and documentary films, made before the communist coup on September 9th, 1944. Most prominently, the collection features the film "Love is Folly" (1917, dir. Vasil Gendov), which is the oldest preserved Bulgarian narrative film. The BNFA currently makes available over 40 titles from its pre-socialist cinema and newsreel collection. More titles will follow soon.
EU Consultation on Opportunities offered by Digital Technologies for the Culture Heritage sector
What strategies and digital tools do cultural heritage institutions need to better cope with crises such as COVID 19? What kind of digital technologies will be important for the sector in the future?
In March 2020 a new Generic Service Project kicked off - Europeana XX: Century of Change. The ambitious project is driven by 17 partners and 5 Europeana aggregators for audiovisual heritage (European Film Gateway, EUscreen), photography (Photoconsortium), Jewish heritage (Judaica Europeana) and fashion (European Fashion Heritage Association), as well as technical partners.
